Due to structured growth, we are now looking for an Assistant Buyer  to strengthen the Buying department of two in managing procurement of materials to sites across the Southern region of Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex.

Key role and responsibilities for this role:

  • Taking off and measurement from drawings to produce schedules for site and supplier usage.
  • Each Buyer will take control of their own developments ensuring where possible deliveries meet build programmes.
  • They will need to obtain quotations, carry out cost comparisons, placing orders in line with the relevant programme of works. They will attend (when required) site review meetings to update the construction and commercial teams.
  • They will need to work to budgets, targets and be able to accurately report costs, liaising closely with the project surveyors.
  • A sound knowledge of materials, plant equipment etc is also required
  • The role is office based, but with visits to sites for site review/ progress meetings.

Excellent communication skills with site management, colleagues and suppliers is essential along with strong negotiation skills and an ability to exert control over the supply chain.

Minimum requirements for this role:

  • The successful candidate would be from a Merchant background or currently working with another House Builder
  • Scheduling experience
  • Material take off experience
